If you are a chocoholic like I am you are going to love this cake.
Velvet Almond Fudge Cake
1 ½ cups blanched, slivered almonds
1 package (12 ounce) of chocolate chips
1 package (4 ounce serving size) of instant Jell-O chocolate fudge or chocolate flavor pudding and pie filling
1 cup sour cream
½ cup water
¼ cup oil
½ teaspoon each vanilla and almond extracts
1 package (2 layer size) chocolate fudge or chocolate cake mix
Chop almonds and toast at 350’ F for 3-5 minutes. Then sprinkle ½ cup of the almonds and ½ cup of the chocolate chips on the bottom of well-greased 10” tube (Bundt) pan. Set aside remaining almonds and chocolate chips. Measure remaining ingredients into mixing bowl. Blend, then beat at medium speed for 4 minutes. Stir in chocolate chips and almonds. Pour into pan and bake at 350’ F for 70 minutes or until cake begins to pull away from sides of pan. Do not underbake. Cool in pan 15 minutes. Remove and finish cooling on rack. Before serving garnish with whipped topping.
