I am a very busy woman and I do not have time to waste. Even if I plan well there are still not too many extra minutes of unused time, because of work, running errands, spending time with family, etc. I am sure you also have to deal with only 24 hours in a day, instead of 28, and are busy as well.
To get to the point I really don’t want to be sitting in my car all day. I had been working the night shift for ages. There is no traffic going to and from work for folks on the night shift. I could roll out of bed after hitting the snooze 3 or 4 times shower, and get to work on time. (I will confess to being late on occasion, but it was not from traffic. It was because I had hit the snooze for a 5th time. Sometimes it was just so hard to crawl out bed in the middle of the night. Warm covers are so cozy and even if I do share my bed with a rotten Chihuahua instead of a hot guy, it takes a lot of willpower and a strong need for a full paycheck to crawl out from under the covers.) From my house to work was a 20 minute drive. From work to my house was the same. Nice perk of being out of bed at night.
I have changed shifts and am now working the day shift which is from 7 am to 3:30 pm. My first day was a Saturday and it was a breeze getting to and from work. I thought this was great. So what happened on Monday morning? Can you imagine my dismay when I got on the freeway and found I couldn’t get on the freeway?
Cars were already on the road, many of them, and they were crawling along. I was indignant! Who are these people and why are they in my way? I know that not many of the people in those cars were hospital staff. So why were they on the road interfering with my commute? My thought was that most people had to be at the office for 8 or 9 am. They certainly could leave for work later. They did not belong on the road when the big bosses are around. Being late is not the way to win brownie points. 40 minutes, ladies and gents, to get into work. Arrrgh!
Returning home was just plain hideous. Over 40 minutes to inch my way home. I don’t think these people realize they are impeding my life style and my progress. I am the princess and they should either stay home until I am ensconced at work or at home at the end of the day or they should pull over onto the shoulder and let me drive right on through. I am number 1 and I am the most important person alive. I have lives to save! So move on over and let Her Majesty pass!
Don’t even get me started on the long lines at the grocery store check out today. I guess I should start wearing my crown in public so people step aside and give me the right of way.
Blog you later, if I don’t get stuck in traffic again!
